This past month we traveled to Minnesota to spend time with family and celebrate two family birthdays. It was a fun trip and good to see family members again. News that both of our granddaughters are with child, one due in late November and the other due in March. Two more great grandchildren to be part of the family, how wonderful is that? However, with all the good news and enjoyable time spent together, there was one thing that was missing. You ask what could that be. To my surprise, only one family member asked me about my books or why I became an author? My grandson Tony.

Well, since becoming a published author which is no small feat. I have had several people who have read my book, ask me those questions. I have now written four novels in the span of less than three years. The second book in the Bailie Beach Saga trilogy, will be released sometime this Fall titled, Love on the Rebound. The third book awaits to be published. The fourth novel is now ready to be read and commented by the beta readers. The genre for this one is a mystery/thriller. The story involves a retired police detective whose character is created in the third book in the Bailie Beach trilogy, Sometimes Alone.

So, why did I become an author? The idea had been growing in the back of my mind since I was a senior in high school. At the time, the English teacher, Mrs. Campbell, gave the senior class an assignment to write a short story, either fiction or nonfiction. I chose fiction and when I received my story back it was heavily marked in red for grammatical and punctuation errors. However, at the top of the paper Mrs. Campbell gave me an A plus. After class she asked me to remain and explained why she gave me the top grade. It was creativity.

Over the years, I had thought about sitting down and writing a novel one day. One of those things you think about but convince yourself that maybe you’re not good enough to accomplish that task. I took a writing class late in life, which I enjoyed doing immensely, but medical issues both for my wife and I were subjected to that prevented me from continuing. This not only completely derailed any plans I had to continue in that vein of seeking to become a writer. I set aside a novel I was writing with only five chapters written. I did finally complete the writing course almost five years later. But as life will sometimes redirect you to take a different journey or go down a different path which prevents you from achieving your dream. Late in the year 2022, I got inspired by two people, one a published author and the other a would-be self-published author to once again try and pursue writing a novel. Hence, an actual true story that had the characters and ingredients of becoming a special love story was written. The actual characters in the story are based on real characters and the events that happened allowed itself to become a trilogy with fictional adaptation applied by the author. Now whether this trilogy becomes well known or not is not the point.

The point is, I did accomplish by writing a story that depicts the different human emotions and the consequences of life that can happen through the decisions one makes in life. This story, can reflect in similarity, the life and struggles that most anyone can face in life. The overall thread depicted in this story is that Love comes in may shades and our heart is affected by the emotions Love can generate. Heart break, Betrayal, Obsession or Revenge and so on can never erase or change the existence of True Love. Hence the Bailie Beach Saga was written.
